About the Role

Sorenson Communications is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in providing high-quality interpretation services to the Deaf community. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a vital role in facilitating communication between Deaf and hearing individuals in various settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Effectively interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English, ensuring accurate and clear communication.
  • Maintain active membership in good standing with the Conference of Interpreter Cultures (CIC) and adhere to industry standards and best practices.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, demonstrating a respectful and professional attitude towards customers and colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet the diverse needs of the Deaf community, including those with varying communication styles and preferences.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, best practices, and continuing education requirements to enhance interpreting skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Interpreter certification and/or licensure as required by state or local regulations.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, with a strong understanding of Deaf culture and community needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel independently and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
