Educational Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team at Chinook School Division No. 211.
About the Role:The successful candidate will work in cooperation with a designated teacher to assist with the educational program of selected students, improving their instructional learning opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise students in the classroom, play, lunch, or rest area, and during recreational activities on a one-to-one or group basis.
- Under the direct supervision of a teacher, supervise, support, and facilitate learning activities.
- Assist in various life skill activities, including assisting designated disabled students in the development of gross and fine motor abilities and basic life skills.
- Exercise judgment in modifying student behavior by restraining, directing, disciplining, and rewarding students within pre-established guidelines.
- Provide designated disabled students with assistance in dressing, eating, toileting, and transportation, based on their individual needs.
- Under the direct supervision of a teacher, assist assigned students with reading, speech, assignments, tests, and comprehension of presented curriculum, based on their Personal Program Plan.
- Promote the vision, mission, principles, and goals of the Chinook School Division.
- Ability and experience in working with children.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship skills, and an ability to work in a team environment.
- A positive and flexible attitude to change.
- Demonstrates a commitment to truth and reconciliation.
- Demonstrates a commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion.
- Participation in the Municipal Employees' Pension Plan.
- A positive work environment.
- $19.00/hour.
