Job Summary

This position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems, as well as performing custodial duties in City Hall and its outbuildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor environmental control systems.
  • Service facilities emergency systems.
  • Perform minor maintenance on buildings and structures.
  • Conduct janitorial and grounds maintenance duties.
  • Respond to facilities-related service requests.
  • Monitor and assist contractor services.
  • Respond to security and emergency maintenance calls.
  • Follow occupational health and safety regulations.
Requirements
  • Typically requires a 5th Class Stationary Engineers Certificate and Refrigeration Engineer Certificate, along with three years of building operations and maintenance experience.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a First Aid certificate and WHMIS certification.
  • Knowledge of facility operations and maintenance principles, methods, and practices.
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and policies.
  • Knowledge of safe handling and storage techniques for chemicals.
  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain operating logs and service records.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and the public.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting and working at heights.
Working Conditions
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel within the City of Regina.
  • Will be required to work shift work.
