Job Summary

EPCOR is seeking a skilled Gas Technician to join our team in Aylmer, Ontario.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing project and third-party locates within the EPCOR Natural Gas franchise area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics, including meeting customer expectations, operational effectiveness, and efficiency outcomes.
  • Locating utility infrastructure for customers, contractors, and project teams, and providing reports and/or drawings for locates after completion.
  • Ensuring that all data related to the installation is documented and recorded.
  • Proficiently operating locating equipment, maintaining transmitters and locator equipment, and ensuring locates are done efficiently and accurately.
  • Inspecting installations and ensuring compliance, liaising with Supervisors to review project designs.
  • Changing/installing new meters at customer's homes.
  • Ability to respond and support Gas Technicians during emergency incidents and to be available for standby schedule rotation and able to perform gas technician duties on call.
  • Utilizing working knowledge of Natural Gas Utility Safety Rules.
  • Providing back-up support to other departments, as assigned, that are in accordance with job responsibilities and/or necessary departmental or corporate objectives.
  • Performing Gas Technician duties as assigned by the Field Operations Lead Hand/Supervisor.
  • Working in a safe and efficient manner, following health and safety legislation/regulations and department policies/procedures/practices and reporting unsafe practices to Supervisor.
  • Demonstrating a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative, and achievement-oriented manner of working.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ontario TSSA Gas Technician Certificate G2 or GPI.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License.
  • Solid understanding of Natural Gas Distribution and/or Gas Systems.

Jurisdiction: OSH
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
