Job Title: Relief Child and Youth Worker

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Relief Child and Youth Worker to join our team at Kinark Child and Family Services. As a Relief Child and Youth Worker, you will provide support and guidance to children and youth in a variety of settings, including group homes and community-based programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to children and youth, focusing on mental health and wellness.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to children and youth in need.
  • Collaborate with families and caregivers to promote healthy relationships and communication.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and progress.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Child and Youth Worker Diploma.
  • One (1) year of experience within Mental Health is required.
  • Experience working with children and mental health.
  • Understanding of group dynamics and strong skills in group and individual counseling.
  • Familiarity with fundamentals of working with children/youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Working knowledge of evidence-informed therapy models and techniques.
  • Current and valid First Aid/CPR Level C certificate.
  • Training in Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB) considered an asset.
  • Medication Administration training is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills.
  • Ability to work with children/youth and families in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Computer literacy and effective report writing abilities.
  • Enthusiasm, versatility, adaptability, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
  • Valid Ontario driver's license.
