Job Summary

The Culinary Specialist - Patient Care plays a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in food production and portion control. This individual will be responsible for cold food preparation, hot food items, prepping meal trays for delivery, and assisting in delivering meals to patient rooms as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain high standards of quality in food production and portion control
  • Prepare cold foods, hot foods, and prepped meal trays for delivery
  • Assist in delivering meals to patient rooms as needed
  • Ensure adherence to food safety and health and safety standards as determined by the Ministry of Health and Compass Standards
  • Participate in data collection and monthly evaluations for the department
  • Maintain proper inventories, including storage, rotation, and labeling
Requirements
  • Minimum Grade 12 education
  • Cook experience (minimum 1 year in Healthcare-LTC and/or banquets)
  • Red Seal Certificate from the Ontario Ministry of Training and Universities or equivalent College Diploma in Culinary Arts (including Cook Apprenticeship, Culinary Management or equivalent) including apprentice experience to achieve certification
  • HACCP training
