About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of dedicated professionals in the sustainable management of southern Alberta's beautiful Provincial Parks. As a key member of the Recreation and Resource Management Team, you will play a crucial role in the facilitation and oversight of private sector recreation and commercial tourism in the South Region.

The successful candidate will ensure the consistent application of policy, legislation, and standards related to managing recreation-related land use activities in parks and some protected areas. You will provide guidance, training, advice, and support to regional and district staff and managers, and work directly with land use applicants, recreational/tourism disposition holders, adjacent landowners, staff from other government departments, municipalities, conservation organizations, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the Recreation and Resource Management Team to identify resource protection issues, goals, and objectives, and provide input to park operations planning and development plans.
  • Review, provide recommendations, monitor compliance, and administer recreation and tourism dispositions, as well as other non-industrial land use activities requiring permissions at park sites located within the South Region.
  • Monitor land-use activities to ensure compliance with terms and conditions and other legal requirements.
  • Coordinate or contribute to the operational delivery of area and regional programs, projects, and initiatives.
