Seeking Nursing Students for Personal Support Worker Roles

Huron County's Homes for the Aged Department is looking for Nursing Students to work as Personal Support Workers with our Huronview and Huronlea Teams. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to use your training and skills to provide high-quality care to our residents.

Our Personal Support Workers assist residents in performing activities of daily living and perform specific interventions as outlined on the individual care plans while working closely with the interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and mission/vision/values statements of the Home.
  • Maintain professionalism with all residents, staff, families, volunteers, community members, and agency representatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of residents and staff as required under legislation and as per policies and procedures of the Home.
  • Accept responsibility for the quality of care and service provided.
Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
  • Registered with a recognized institution in the Bachelor of Science Nursing degree program of study.
  • Demonstrates a focus on resident safety.
  • Experience working with seniors and/or chronic care residents in a healthcare facility or community setting, with a genuine interest in and concern for seniors.
  • Demonstrates maturity and tact.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.

Wage:
  • As per SEIU $ – $ plus 10% in lieu of benefits and 4% vacation pay. Shift premiums vary.

This position requires the submission of a current (within the last 6 months) TB2 Test and Vulnerable Sector Check.
