Cold Storage Labourer

About the Job
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cold Storage Labourer to join our team at Fogo Island Co-operative Society Limited.
The successful candidate will be responsible for various tasks within our fish and seafood processing facility, including transporting fish and shellfish to work areas, weighing and packing them in ice, cleaning machines and immediate work areas, and measuring and dumping ingredients into hoppers of mixing and grinding machines.
Responsibilities
- Transport fish and shellfish to work area
- Weigh fish or shellfish, record weight and pack fish in ice
- Clean machines and immediate work areas
- Measure and dump ingredients into hoppers of mixing and grinding machines
- Sort fish according to species, weight and destination
- Cut, clean and trim fish or seafood prior to marketing or further processing
- Scrape away scales, cut fish, separate fillets and remove scrap parts using knife
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- No degree, certificate or diploma
- Will train
Work Environment
This is a physically demanding role that requires standing for extended periods, handling heavy loads, and working in a cold/refrigerated environment with occasional exposure to odours and wet/damp conditions.
We offer a competitive salary of $$25.00 - $30.00 per hour, depending on experience, as well as opportunities for growth and development within our company.
