About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Chemist to join our team at Kelowna General Hospital Lab. This permanent full-time position is responsible for overseeing the quality of all testing performed in the Chemistry services areas.

As a Lead Chemist, you will work closely with staff to ensure that procedures are followed accurately and efficiently. You will also be responsible for monitoring existing procedures and equipment, and assisting in the implementation of new methods as directed.

This role involves coordinating quality management activities within the Chemistry services areas. You will participate in method and instrument validation, document processes and outcomes according to established policy/procedures, and coordinate the review and analysis of quality control data and patient reports.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will play a key role in employee and student orientation and training, and assist in the performance assessment process by providing staff performance input.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have a Medical Laboratory Technologist certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and be eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Sciences (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS. You should also have a minimum three years' recent experience in all aspects of Chemistry services.

The estimated salary range for this position is $38.08 - $47.55 per hour, based on the location and industry standards.
