Enterprise Data Architect

Government of Alberta is seeking a passionate and innovative Enterprise Data Architect to play a pivotal role in designing and shaping our cutting-edge federated data ecosystem.

About the Role

As an Enterprise Data Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a robust data fabric that seamlessly integrates disparate data sources, ensuring accessibility, reliability, privacy protections, and security.

You will lead the design and development of a federated data platform architecture, ensuring alignment with business goals and scalability.

Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into innovative and efficient solutions.

Champion the implementation of cutting-edge technologies to enhance data processing, storage, and analytics capabilities.

Design and deliver on enterprise data architecture related to data products and platforms.

Provide thought leadership on emerging trends in data strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement a robust data fabric
  • Lead the design and development of a federated data platform architecture
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements
  • Implement cutting-edge technologies to enhance data processing, storage, and analytics capabilities
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging trends in data strategy
Requirements

Computer Science, Information Technology), supplemented by at least four (4) years of related experience.

Developing, delivering, and implementing data platform solution architectures

Cloud computing or big data platforms and infrastructure

Data Cataloguing, Data Quality, Master Data Management, and Data Governance

Solid experience presenting to various levels of the organization

Assets

TOGAF, Gartner, or Zachman), their use and implementation

Knowledge of data fabric, semantic layers, and data lake with tools such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Snowflake, Cloudera, Hadoop, Spark, etc.

Proficiency in designing solutions for cloud-based data platforms, such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud

What We Offer

This position is a permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).

While this position is eligible for remote work, the successful candidate must reside in Alberta to work remotely.
