Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified English Language Instructor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging English language courses for non-native speakers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive English language curricula, incorporating diverse instructional methods and activities to cover all language aspects (speaking, writing, and comprehension).
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality instructional materials, assign homework and assessments, and evaluate student progress.
  • Create individualized learning plans for students with special requirements, such as learning disabilities.
  • Stay current with best practices in English language instruction and implement innovative teaching methods.
  • Maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor student attendance and maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Address student crises and communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress.
  • Conduct formal and informal assessments of students, including report cards and progress reports.
  • Supervise students during classes and at other times in the school day.
  • Prepare for and participate in parent-teacher conferences and other school functions.
  • Maintain high standards of behavior, mutual respect, and safety within the classroom.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
  • Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Strong research and instructional skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an emphasis on compassion, patience, and professionalism
  • Creativity to develop engaging and educational lessons
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and maintain a positive attitude
