Actuarial Manager Job Description

Aviva Canada is seeking a highly skilled Actuarial Manager to join our Reserving team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the quarterly reserve review, communicating financial insights to key stakeholders, and driving exciting projects around efficient reserving processes and reporting tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Accountable for the production and reporting of SII Technical Provisions, managing communication of results and insights to key stakeholders in Finance and Economic Capital.
  2. Responsible for claim reserve levels of Specialty Commercial Risks, including Surety, Warranty, Professional Liability, and Latent claims, connecting with Claims and the CI business to gain expertise and managing stakeholder communications.
  3. Support the Reserving team's quarterly analysis, including preparation and presentation to the Reserving Committee.
  4. Support the Reserving team's regulatory reporting, including IFRS17 reporting and the annual Appointed Actuary's report.
  5. Develop a close working relationship with partners in the CI Business, Pricing, Claims, Finance, and Economic Capital.
  6. Drive improvements in current processes to enhance efficiency and deliver better business insights.
Requirements:
  1. FCAS/FCIA and 5+ years of P&C actuarial experience or 10+ years of experience and expertise equivalent to an FCAS.
  2. Reserving experience is an asset.
  3. Degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or related field.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Strong team player with ability to work independently.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to establish and maintain good working collaborations with various departments.
  7. Strong technical knowledge with MS Excel and VBA.
  8. Experience with SAS, SQL, and Python is an asset.
