Master Carpenter

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Tradesperson - Framer/Carpenter to join our team at Velocity Enterprises Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials. This is a permanent position with 30 to 40 hours of work per week. The ideal candidate will have a secondary (high) school graduation certificate and experience in the trade is an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Measure, Cut, Shape, Assemble, and Join Materials: The successful candidate will be responsible for measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
• Fit and Install Windows, Doors, Stairs, Mouldings, and Hardware: The candidate will be responsible for fitting and installing windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
• Instruct Apprentices: The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing apprentices in the trade.
• Supervise Other Workers: The candidate will be responsible for supervising other workers in the trade.
• Estimate Costs and Materials: The successful candidate will be responsible for estimating costs and materials for projects.
• Maintain, Repair, and Renovate Residences and Wooden Structures: The candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and renovating residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.

• Offers Mentorship Programs: The candidate will offer mentorship programs that pair newcomers and refugees with experienced employees.
• Provides Diversity and Cross-Cultural Training: The successful candidate will provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and refugees.

Support for Youths:

• Participates in Government or Community Programs: The successful candidate will participate in government or community programs that support youth employment.
• Offers On-the-Job Training: The candidate will offer on-the-job training tailored to youth.

• Supports Military Skill Translation: The successful candidate will support Veterans in translating their military skills and experience into the language of the civilian job market.
• Offers Flexible Onboarding Options: The candidate will offer flexible onboarding options to allow Veterans to gradually adapt to the civilian workplace.

Support for Indigenous People:

• Participates in Government or Community Programs: The successful candidate will participate in government or community programs that support Indigenous people.
• Offers Mentorship and Coaching: The candidate will offer mentorship and coaching to Indigenous workers.
• Develops and Maintains Relationships: The successful candidate will develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
