This position supports attorneys through every phase of employment litigation, requiring a detail-oriented professional with a passion for precision and a foundation in civil litigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Communication: Provide case updates to clients, assist with discovery processes, and conduct initial screenings or intake for new clients under attorney supervision.
  • Discovery Management: Draft discovery requests and responses, prepare and serve document productions, and review hundreds to thousands of employer-produced documents to create detailed chronologies and identify key evidence.
  • Pleading & Motion Support: Draft initial complaints, deposition notices, and basic motions for attorney review, ensuring accuracy and adherence to templates.
  • Deposition Coordination: Communicate with opposing counsel to schedule depositions, prepare deposition notices, and draft deposition summaries post-event.
  • Litigation Coordination: Liaise with opposing counsel for discovery extensions, mediation scheduling, and other procedural agreements; interact with court staff to confirm filings or hearing details.
  • Document Filing: Prepare and file legal documents through legal service providers, ensuring timely submission to courts or opposing parties.
  • Trial Preparation: Organize trial/arbitration notebooks, exhibits, and case files; compile jury instructions and motions in limine; assist with mock trials and attend court to support trial proceedings.
  • Case Analysis: Pull highly relevant documents from productions for use as deposition or trial exhibits, maintaining meticulous organization throughout the litigation process.
  • Administrative Support: Serve subpoenas, handle routine correspondence, and manage scheduling tasks as needed to keep cases on track.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; paralegal certification preferred.
  • At least 1 year as a Litigation Paralegal or Legal Assistant in civil litigation, preferably in employment law or personal injury.
  • Working knowledge of civil litigation procedures and legal terminology, especially in employment law.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English required; Spanish a plus).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage complex case files and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and legal research tools.

Benefits:

  • $32–$38 per hour (approximately $66,560–$79,040 annually for 40 hours/week), based on experience.
  • Hybrid Schedule: Minimum of 2 days per week in the office, with flexibility to work remotely the rest of the time.
  • 18 days of combined vacation and sick leave annually; health and retirement benefits are being finalized and expected to launch within 45–60 days of hire.
  • Hands-On Experience: Engage in every aspect of employment litigation, from intake to trial, with exposure to discovery, depositions, mediations, and courtroom proceedings.
  • Career Growth: For those eyeing a legal career, gain mentorship and observation opportunities.

Small-Firm Advantage:

  • Work in a close-knit setting that values initiative and quality over micromanagement.
