Highly Skilled Drill and Blast Operations Manager

Thiess, a leading global organization with a rich history dating back to 1933, offers an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Drill and Blast Engineer. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling and blasting operations.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all drill and blast design, planning, and reporting activities. This will involve providing accurate and efficient drill and blast designs, plans, and scheduling to optimize generation and control of D&B Mine Plans, Forecast, and Budgetary process.
- Incorporating geotechnical recommendations and information into the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP)
- Providing efficient drill patterns, load sheets, and tie-up plans to drill and blasting contractors
- Performing regular pit inspections to ensure compliance to design parameters and goals
- Ensuring site administrators have relevant documentation regarding blast activity
You will also actively monitor operational activities, blasting vibrations, and geotechnical conditions, immediately reporting any identified non-compliance or hazards. Additionally, you will manage bench clean up and drilling and blasting operations through the Production Supervisor.
Finance and Reporting
- Ensuring drill and blast activities are completed within budget by effective use of subcontractors and resources
- Conducting regular drill and blast block reconciliations and reporting on any variances
- Ensuring subcontractor invoices are approved and processed correctly, with monthly accruals complete
Relationship Management
- Providing clear performance expectations to subcontractors and reinforcing correct behavior through recognition and encouragement
- Managing relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to enhance departmental performance

Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years mining engineering experience with drill and blast experience in an open pit mine
- Valid Driver's License
We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications, as well as the opportunity to work with a world-leading mining services provider.
