Job Title: Payroll and Benefits Clerk

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Clerk to join our team at School District #23 (Central Okanagan). As a key member of our payroll and benefits team, you will be responsible for providing a full range of payroll and benefit services to our unionized employees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect, verify, and enter time sheets, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain payroll databases and documentation, supporting all payroll transactions.
  • Prepare records of employment and monitor benefit payments and deductions.
  • Process benefit coverage changes and discuss options with employees, determining eligibility.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide detailed information on payroll and benefits.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 (Senior Secondary School Graduation) or equivalent.
  • Canadian Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate (consideration may be given to those willing to complete the CPC Certificate within 18 months).
  • Knowledge and experience with payroll software programs.
  • Three years' experience in payroll and benefits administration in a multi-union environment.
  • Data entry/keyboarding and word processing skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.

This is a casual employment opportunity with the possibility of leading to temporary or permanent full-time vacancies. The hourly wage rate for this role is $34.36.
