Your Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity at Alberta Health Services Edmonton Zone Medical Affairs to work as a Physician Assistant in the General Internal Medicine team at the Sturgeon Hospital. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will provide general medical care to patients with a wide variety of medical conditions within the Hospital Medicine portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to work to the full scope of practice and contribute to setting new standards of excellence in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Physician Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive direct patient care, within your skill matrix, as a central member of the team. This includes:

  • Performing comprehensive assessments and making differential diagnoses
  • Ordering appropriate testing and planning clinical management
  • Providing leadership and participating in program development and evaluation
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide patient care
  • Documenting all aspects of patient care and assisting with completion of required documentation

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Graduation from a recognized Physician Assistant Education Program
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant with one of the following credentials: Canadian Certified Physician Assistant (CCPA), Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C), or equivalent
  • Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)
