Senior Financial Analyst – Financial Planning and Analysis

Overview

Alberta Blue Cross is seeking a dynamic Senior Financial Analyst to join our Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) department. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with leaders across the organization to drive business growth and improve financial performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain driver-based budgets and forecasts, and analyze variances to inform business decisions.
  • Design and report financial information and analysis through visualization and dashboards, using structured and unstructured data.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of views on departmental performance, product development, and operating initiatives.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand their business needs, interpret financial results, and deliver reporting on a regular basis.
  • Consolidate and integrate financial and non-financial information to provide meaningful insights about business performance and potential optimization opportunities.
  • Enhance evidence-based decisions through analyses of customer profitability, cost allocation, and resource optimization.
  • Assess the effectiveness of strategies and apply leading practices in defining processes and procedures.
  • Align key performance indicators with organizational goals and utilize tools and reports to effectively monitor and communicate them.
Requirements
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is preferred, or a related undergraduate degree with several years of related experience.
  • 4+ years' progressively responsible experience in financial planning and analysis in a similar size organization.
  • Critical thinking skills in pursuit of continuous improvement and value-add.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and analyzing driver-based models.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to break down complex financial concepts and communicate without prejudice.
  • Experience developing, designing, analyzing, and continuously improving reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deliverables, anticipate obstacles, and meet deadlines.
  • Initiative in taking ownership and responsibility.
  • Proficiency in data analysis through Microsoft Excel and experience with corporate performance management or enterprise systems.
