The First Nations Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Communications Officer - Media and Government Relations to join our team. As a key member of our Communications and Media Relations team, you will play a critical role in supporting the Director, Communications and Health Promotion in proactive media and government relations, media training, media strategy, and issues management.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support to the Director, Communications and Health Promotion in proactive media and government relations, media training, media strategy, and issues management.
- Communicate complex and time-sensitive information to a wide range of stakeholders, including external media and community.
- Act as the first point of contact for external media inquiries.
- Develop proactive media relations strategies and content to support the FNHA's mission and mandate.
- Assess the value of interview requests from the media, source appropriate spokespeople, and coordinate interviews.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A University Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Writing, or Journalism, or a relevant combination of education, training, and experience.
- 4-6 years of experience in media relations with progressively senior responsibilities.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a First Nations environment, especially in the area of developing key messages, press releases, and communication in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner.
