Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care in accordance with established policy, physician's orders, and within the scope of practice of an RPN.
  • Utilize sound nursing practice principles to ensure excellent nursing and personal care in assigned home areas.
  • Ensure timely and accessible admissions for residents, including comprehensive orientation to the home and services offered.
  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to meet physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and social needs of residents.
  • Ensure supply, control, and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics, ensuring protocols are followed on all assigned shifts.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Able to work with persons with infectious diseases.
  • BLS Certificate.
  • Valid First Aid & CPR.
  • Proof of current immunizations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella (MMRV), proof of negative TB skin test within one year, as well as Hepatitis B.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work flexible shift times, eight hours or twelve hours in length.
  • Must be able to 'float' from unit to unit within a hospital, depending on facility need.
