Job Summary

The Sales & Yard Worker position is a critical role in the successful operation of the Windsor Plywood Store. This position is responsible for managing products and materials entering, stored, and leaving the Yard and the Store. Key responsibilities include sorting, picking, replenishment, yard cleaning, transfers, and inventory control. The ideal candidate will be driven to produce high-quality results, creating a positive first impression for customers upon entering the yard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure every customer experience exceeds expectations by going the extra mile
  • Handle customer problems and complaints in a positive and constructive manner
  • Promote features and benefits of all products and services provided
  • Actively participate in sales training initiatives
  • Place regular stocking and special orders, and process front-counter transactions
  • Ensure all product spaces are adequately stocked
  • Monitor stock levels, cleanliness, accuracy of signs, and store navigation
  • Ship and receive inventory, ensuring all paperwork is accurate
  • Order picking, pulling, palletizing, and staging
  • Load and unload transport trucks and customer vehicles
  • Assist with loading and unloading delivery vehicles for jobsite deliveries
  • Assist contractors and customers with locating products in the store
  • Operate a forklift in a diligent, professional, and safe manner
  • Assist with maintenance of equipment, buildings, and landscaping onsite
  • Monitor material organization, stocking levels, and accuracy in the Yard
  • Follow checklists, policies, processes, and procedures
  • Maintain a safe and positive work environment
Requirements
  • Applicants with prior building supply or woodworking industry experience will be given preference
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation, with the ability to work independently using sound judgment, logical reasoning skills, and intuition
  • Ability to be personable and social with customers to help deliver sales
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively, always mindful of the customer
  • Flexible, honest, and acting in all situations with professionalism and integrity
  • Able to deal with changes, delays, or unexpected events in a professional and timely manner
  • Permanent resident of Canada
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to dust, dirt, and adverse weather conditions
  • Personal protective equipment is required
  • Working under tight deadlines and using sound judgment and discretion
  • Busy, high-volume work environment
  • Noise level is moderate to low
  • Visual ability to use computer screens and read small labels
  • Auditory ability to use telephone handsets and portable radios
