Job Summary

This Welder Apprentice, Vessels role is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in vessel fabrication and welding. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating manual or semi-automatic welding equipment, reading and interpreting blueprints and welding process specifications, and ensuring all welding equipment is clean and functional.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using various processes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and welding process specifications to ensure accurate and safe execution of tasks.
  • Ensure all welding equipment is clean and functional, and assist with maintenance and repair as needed.
  • Work effectively with other trades and coworkers to complete tasks and meet departmental goals.

Requirements

  • 2nd or 3rd year registered apprentice in a relevant trade.
  • 1-2 years of directly related work experience.
  • Ability to interpret welding process specifications, operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment, and read and interpret blueprints and drawings.

Working Environment

This role is based in a shop environment, which may be noisy or dusty. You will be required to stand for long periods, work in confined spaces, and use various types and sizes of ladders. You may also be required to lift and move items that weigh over 20 kilograms.

  • Accuracy: Work is performed safely, neatly, and accurately, with a focus on completing tasks within safety standards.
  • Communication Skills: Appropriately safeguard confidential information, understand and follow written and oral directions, and communicate ideas clearly to coworkers and supervisors.
