Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at Scotiabank. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data systems that support our business operations.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement data engineering solutions to support business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data into our Enterprise Data Lake (EDL) Big Data platform.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data engineering requirements.
- Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with Scotiabank's policies and procedures.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in data engineering and analytics.
- At least 4 years of experience working with Hadoop, Hive, Apache Sqoop, and Apache Spark.
- Exposure and familiarity with Talend ETL tool or similar products.
- 3+ years of production support experience.
- 4+ years of software development experience in Agile Scrum/Kanban methodology.
- Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux Command Line Interface (CLI).
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Basic RDBMS skills and experience with Oracle or SQL Server.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with Python or Spark.
- Working experience with DevOps and running Jenkins pipelines (nice-to-have).
- Experience with code repository, version control, and code promotion tools such as Git/Bitbucket and Jenkins (nice-to-have).
