Job Title: Metal Fabrication Specialist - Structural Steel

We are seeking an experienced Metal Fabrication Specialist - Structural Steel to join our team at Jagir Contracting Inc.

Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for planning and executing the fabrication of structural steel components. This includes:

  • Laying out reference points and patterns to ensure accurate cuts and assembly
  • Planning the sequence of tasks to cut metal efficiently and minimize waste
  • Studying engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements
  • Assembling and fitting plates and sections to form structures
  • Welding or bolting sections together using a variety of techniques including MIG, TIG, plasma ARC, and gas metal arc welding (GMAW)
  • Setting up and operating heavy-duty metal-working machines such as brakes and presses
  • Constructing patterns and templates to ensure accurate cuts and fits
  • Installing fabricated components in final products
  • Rigging, hoisting, and moving materials to storage areas or within worksites
Key Responsibilities
  • Fabricating structural steel components to meet customer specifications
  • Collaborating with engineers and designers to ensure accurate interpretation of blueprints and drawings
  • Maintaining a safe and efficient work environment
  • Ensuring high-quality products through thorough inspection and testing
  • Participating in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with industry best practices and new technologies
Requirements
  • 1-2 years of experience in metal fabrication, preferably in a structural steel context
  • Strong knowledge of metalworking machines and equipment, including brakes and presses
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
