Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Coatings Team Lead to join our team at Heddle Shipyards.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating and directing the work of the paint team. This includes managing workloads, leading the paint team to ensure all work is completed on time and meets quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review technical specifications, drawings, procedures and standards required for each project
  • Plan and coordinate each project's schedule for coating activities
  • Record and track weather and/or atmospheric conditions
  • Prepare project quality documents as well as inspection and test plans and procedures
  • Oversee daily inspection of coating activities; monitor overcoat window
  • Maintain equipment used for coating work
  • Control and maintain paint supply inventory
  • Manage proper waste disposal for the paint department
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5 years of professional experience in outdoor - all season sandblasting and painting (e.g., airless spraying)
  • 2 years of professional experience supervising blast/paint crews
  • Official designation of Coatings Inspector (Level 1) is an asset
  • Marine experience is an asset

Compensation:

The estimated annual salary for this position is $85,000-$110,000 depending on location and experience.
