Canonical, a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, is seeking a skilled Data Center Automation Engineer to join our team in Toronto. As a key member of our lab operations team, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining tooling to increase data center operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, with expertise in Python programming and Linux administration. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of our lab, which involves writing and using software that deploys and configures servers and network switches.

Your primary focus will be on building and improving our Metal as a Service (MAAS) software, which enables seamless interaction with a wide variety of server and network hardware. You will also collaborate with other engineers, including kernel engineers and data center hardware specialists, to ensure that our lab remains available and efficient.

In addition to your technical skills, excellent communication and problem-solving abilities are essential for success in this role. You will work closely with our globally distributed team to identify and resolve issues, and contribute to the development of our automated testing and deployment processes.

We offer a competitive salary range of $140,000 - $160,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications, as well as a performance-driven annual bonus. Our benefits package includes a personal learning and development budget, annual compensation review, recognition rewards, and more.
