Residential Design Lead

Job Description:
We're seeking an experienced Residential Design Lead to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for overseeing the design process for residential projects, ensuring that all designs meet our high standards and are completed on time.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Leading the design team to create detailed designs and working drawings for residential projects;
- Serving as a technical resource for design-related questions and actively solving problems through project construction;
- Managing daily production workload activities to meet production timelines;
- Working independently and collaboratively with a team on multiple projects at various stages of construction to optimize design efficiency;
- Reviewing and discussing onsite construction issues as they arise (framing, engineering, floor and roof layouts, finishing, electrical);
- Developing documents for Building Permit Submissions; drawing site plans and completing grading;
- Collaborating with the design team to review, develop, and analyze scopes of work aimed at standardizing Dream's design activities and achieving departmental KPIs;
- Maintaining CAD standards and plan consistency for all master files;
- Assisting in staying current by searching for new products and creating new designs to enhance Dream's communities and homes;
- Serving as an integral part of the housing team by working closely with other team members from different areas of the business, including Sales, Construction, Purchasing, Marketing, and Finance;
- Mentoring Junior and Intermediate Architectural Designers on pre-construction processes for all municipalities and programs;
- Performing plan checks and reviewing other Architectural Designers' work;
- Assisting the Manager with product development;
- Selecting interior and exterior palettes and maintaining them;
- Contributing to achieving common goals and strategies across different business areas while understanding the challenges and impacts each area has on another.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A postsecondary education in Architectural Technologies (Residential Stream) or a related field;
- 8+ years of progressive experience in residential home design;
- Extensive knowledge of home building, estimating, construction materials, and building code standards;
- LEED accreditation is an asset;
- High proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office;
