We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Rehabilitation Worker to join our team at igility / Health Association Nova Scotia. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals in need of residential rehabilitation services.
Key Responsibilities- Client Care and Support
- Ensure the physical and mental health of clients is maintained and not put at risk by other clients or staff.
- Observe, document, and communicate changes in physical and mental health, and accompany clients to appointments as needed.
- Ensure regular personal hygiene habits are followed, and healthy diets are provided and encouraged.
- Administer medications and perform simple first aid as directed by policy.
- Programming and Activities
- Teach and supervise skills necessary for optimum independence, including independent living skills, life skills, and socialization.
- Identify client needs and develop, implement, and evaluate programs to meet these needs in cooperation with the program team.
- Support and assist clients with activities and responsibilities, and monitor and document client activities and interactions.
- Communication and Teamwork
- Communicate effectively with clients, family members, and other stakeholders, and participate in meetings as required.
- Develop an interdependent team approach in day-to-day decisions, and provide orientation and training to new employees, volunteers, and students.
- Safety and Maintenance
- Make decisions and take action in crisis situations, and follow policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of clients.
- Ensure the home is clean, tidy, and well-maintained, and recommend maintenance and replacement needs to the House Coordinator.
- Education and experience in a Human Services field or Community College Diploma.
- One year of experience or a combination of education, training, and related work experience.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Patient and empathetic, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and make independent decisions and good judgment in crisis situations.
