Electrical Systems Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement design concepts through the preparation of electrical detailed designs, production drawings, and schematics using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Design and prepare layouts and specifications for lighting, electrical distribution, emergency power distribution, fire alarm systems, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, cable schedules, and panel schedules.
  • Collaborate with project teams and Project Managers to ensure quality and timely delivery of projects.
  • Create technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
  • Perform calculations, create specifications, and equipment selection.
  • Review shop drawings to confirm they adhere to project requirements.
  • Maintain company policies, procedures, and file structures/formatting.
  • Perform general duties as required such as printing, plotting, scanning, conversion, quantity take-offs, and measurement.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in Electrical Engineering for industrial, commercial, and institutional buildings.
  • Experience designing HV substations, fire alarms, lighting, emergency power generation, MV and LV distribution systems, and large electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • The ability to meet deadlines and successfully complete deliverables.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure on various tasks.
  • Self-motivation with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • An Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) certification is an asset.
  • A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering is also an asset.
