About the Role:

This Urban Planning Professional position will be responsible for providing technical support to our Principal Planner and project teams. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of planning processes, legislation, and guidelines, as well as proficiency in AutoCAD and other visualization tools.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Draft concept plans, site plans, and other project-related documentation;
  • Support project teams with report writing and documentation;
  • Conduct technical assessments and data analysis for land use and development projects;
  • Prepare and submit various planning and development applications;
  • Liaise with clients, municipalities, and agencies for project coordination;
  • Assist the Principal Planner in facilitating public consultation processes;
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver planning documents and reports;
  • Review complex planning and development applications and provide detailed feedback;
  • Provide development support to other disciplines as required;
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure project requirements are met.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Planning Technician Program (required);
  • Minimum 2 years of technical planning work experience (required);
  • Membership in the Canadian Association of Certified Planning Technicians (CACPT) - associate membership (required), designation preferred;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D Visualizations, and Presentation Graphics;
  • Familiarity with Planning and Development processes, Building Legislation, Municipal and Provincial Guidelines, and Standards;
  • Thorough understanding of Planning Legislation, Hierarchy of Planning Documents, Ontario's Planning Act, and Provincial Policy Statement (PPS).
