Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Real Estate Specialist to join our team at CP. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating the third-party use of non-surplus properties, negotiating real estate agreements, and providing subject matter expertise on acquisitions, development, and disposition of real property interests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the use of non-surplus properties by engaging with internal stakeholders to verify surplus status and ensure proposed use does not negatively impact railroad operations
  • Negotiate real estate agreements to ensure highest returns while minimizing liability to the company
  • Provide subject matter expertise on acquisitions, development, and disposition of real property interests for CP projects
  • Research historical agreements, property ownership, and title status for parcels using various resources
  • Perform administrative tasks related to real estate agreements, including document management and inquiry management

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Railroad Real Estate or Corporate Real Estate
  • Post-secondary education in business, finance, or property management considered an asset
  • Experience in complex Railroad transactions considered a strong asset
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend legal documents with an emphasis on land
