Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead our Securities Settlements team in Toronto. As a key member of our Business and Client Services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of securities settlement processes and associated control functions.

As a leader, you will be accountable for driving change and making continuous improvements while staying informed and abiding by regulatory, compliance, and business imperatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the department adheres to relevant standing orders and operational procedures, including escalation.
  • Work to prevent, detect, and eliminate potential risk and liability to the firm.
  • Ensure staff are fully aware of their mandates, receive proper training, and execute their duties in accordance with Standing Orders and Unit Financial Controls.
  • Help establish vision and goals within the Securities Settlements team, driving high-performance management, supporting staff career development, and rewarding strong performance.
  • Work closely with the front office, internal partners, and key stakeholders to ensure support groups meet existing and future business requirements.
  • Manage projects within the department that require specialized business and operational knowledge, acting as a key liaison with other areas of RBCCM/RBFG.
  • Be accountable for providing input and managing to departmental budget objectives.
Requirements
  • Ability to work independently, within regional and global reporting lines.
  • Must be an effective communicator, comfortable with interacting and presenting to executive-level management as required.
  • 5+ years of proven management experience, as well as extensive securities settlement experience.
  • University degree.
  • Experienced people manager with a track record of developing talent.
  • Strong awareness of operational risk and a mindset towards maintaining and improving control frameworks.
  • Must be comfortable with leading and promoting change.
