Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Oncology team at Bluewater Health. As an Oncology Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients with cancer, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless transitions and continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive health and symptoms assessments in accordance with Cancer Care Ontario standards
- Provide patient education and refer patients to appropriate sources of information and education
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care through key transitions points in the cancer care journey
- Assist in the coordination of care and problem-solve situations involving complex patient care needs
- Facilitate access to the cancer system for culturally diverse communities and vulnerable populations
- Provide emotional and psychological support as needed within professional scope
- Minimum two years recent experience caring for patients and families in an oncology setting
- Completion of de Souza Institute Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Facilitator courses or completion within six months
- Completion of de Souza Patient Navigation course or completion within two years of hire
- Certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current membership with RNAO
- Certification with Oncology Nursing Canada
- Active membership with CANO
- In-depth knowledge of cancer care, including clinical and supportive care
- In-depth knowledge of local and provincial cancer services
- Knowledgeable about oncology drug protocols and access to information
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving
- Proven organizational and priority setting skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as an effective team member
