**The Link is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Behavioral Support Specialist to join our team.**

About The Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive behavioral management and academic support in the classroom and community, while also offering family support and recreational programming. This is a unique opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients and contribute to their growth and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of strength-based, goal-oriented plans for students and families;
  • Implement behavioral and family support components of treatment plans;
  • Establish a supportive relationship as the primary adult to whom students relate in the program;
  • Employ a strength-based, trauma-informed approach when working with students and their families;
  • Help provide a safe learning environment for students;
  • Reinforce educational and behavioral goals in the classroom and school under the direction of the classroom teacher;
  • Co-develop student-centered plans that consider all aspects of students' needs and communicate these throughout the team;
  • Encourage socially appropriate behavior and provide opportunities for social skill development and cultural networking;
  • Assist in the development and planning of out-of-school individual and group activities;
  • Supervise student and group activities on- and off-site;
  • Provide transportation to students and families as required;
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries with clients and families;
  • Support and consult with families to identify interventions related to their strengths and needs;
  • Communicate regularly with the Program Supervisor, team members, and families;
  • Employ crisis intervention strategies in conjunction with other team members and service providers;
  • Complete daily behavior summary reports, documentation, and data information;
Requirements
  • A degree or diploma in Human Services or a related field;
  • Or a combination of education and experience in social services (Social Work, Community Development, Inner City Studies, Child and Youth Care);
  • At least 2 years of supervised experience working with trauma-affected families and youth with pervasive behavior disorders and emotional needs;
  • Previous experience supporting children in their learning;
  • De-escalation training and ASIST certification;
  • Current First-Aid/CPR certification preferred;
  • Criminal records, child and adult abuse registry, and prior Winnipeg Child and Family Services contact checks are required with acceptable results;
  • A valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle are essential for this role;
