Health and Safety Specialist Role

We are seeking a skilled Health and Safety Specialist to support the Tomlinson Group of Companies in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site visits to assess and monitor health and safety hazards and develop strategies to control risks.
  • Inspect workplaces to ensure compliance with government regulations regarding workplace safety, sanitation, and the handling and storage of hazardous substances.
  • Implement company health and safety programs and enforce legislated acts and regulations.
  • Train employees to meet legislated requirements and disseminate health and safety information.
  • Investigate accidents and injuries, and develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide health and safety advice to employees and assist with Ministry of Labour and WSIB issues.
  • Conduct surveys and assessments as required, such as noise assessments.

Requirements:

  • University or college diploma in Health and Safety or related field, or an additional 4 years of experience.
  • 5+ years of related industry experience.
  • Good understanding of the Health and Safety Act and Regulations and WSIB Act.
  • Effective communication and teaching skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Valid G class driver's license.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, up to heights of 30m, with the ability to lift moderate loads up to 30lbs.
  • Certified WSIB JHSC representative.
