Job Title: Senior Estimator, Civil Infrastructure

Michels Canada is seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our preconstruction team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for bidding on civil infrastructure projects related to open cut trenching, large diameter tunneling, micro tunneling, shaft construction, structural form work, and foundations.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Support the Senior Project Manager during the tendering phase of projects, assembling accurate and well-organized estimates and new project set-up documents.
  • Analyze drawings and specifications, coordinate the tender process, and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, consultants, vendors, end users, and suppliers.
  • Review bid requirements, prepare and attend site walkthroughs and project site meetings, review and confirm geotechnical conditions, and draft risk matrices.
  • Assist in creating preliminary budgets for successful tender projects and change order pricing.
  • Manage major infrastructure projects from pre-construction to completion.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience estimating heavy civil infrastructure earthworks and underground utility projects.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading estimates for heavy civil infrastructure earthworks and underground utility projects.
  • Experience in negotiating pricing while maintaining strong integrity and relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, Bluebeam, MS Project, and Heavy Bid (HCSS).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
