Culinary Specialist Job Description

The Good Samaritan Society is seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes and foods, as well as supervising kitchen staff and helpers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods
  • Supervise kitchen staff and helpers
  • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment
  • Clean kitchen and work areas
  • Manage kitchen operations
Work Environment:

This is a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail, the ability to handle heavy loads, and the capacity to work in a repetitive task setting. You will be standing for extended periods and must be able to work in a team environment.

Requirements:
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Client focus, flexibility, initiative, organized, reliability, and team player
Support for Newcomers and Refugees:

We provide cultural competency training and awareness training to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.

Work Term:

This is a permanent position with 35 hours of work per week.
