About the Role

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Perinatal Nurse Specialist to join our Labour and Delivery unit at Sechelt Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will provide advanced perinatal nursing care to expectant clients, conducting comprehensive nursing assessments and providing care to other assigned medical/surgical patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality perinatal nursing care, including conducting assessments, developing care plans, and implementing evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.
  • Enhance quality of life for clients and their families through education, counseling, and support.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices in perinatal nursing.
  • Maintain and advance your clinical competence through ongoing education and professional development.

About Sechelt Hospital

Sechelt Hospital is a 46-bed acute care facility serving over 30,000 residents of the Lower Sunshine Coast. Our hospital provides a range of services, including emergency care, renal program, mental health and substance use services, surgical services, and imaging services.

Qualifications

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Completion of a recognized advanced nursing specialty program in perinatal nursing or two years' recent, related experience.
  • Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family-centered model of care.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement care plans, assess client responses to care, and respond appropriately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
