Job Description

Athenian Group is a reputable placement agency offering professional technical recruitment, staffing, and payroll services to top Canadian consulting, engineering, manufacturing, and construction companies.

We are currently recruiting for a Contract Mechanical Engineer to join our client's team. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of progressive Mechanical Design experience within industrial or power generation facilities/equipment.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Knowledge and proficiency in mechanical design and equipment specification.
  • Ability to prepare, verify, and implement equipment design calculations.
  • Familiarity with codes and standards, including Saskatchewan Boiler & Pressure Vessel Act & Regulations, ASME, ASTM, API, CSA, NBIC, NFPA, and ASHRAE.
  • Experience using relevant software/tools, with additional tools being an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The role involves designing and specifying mechanical engineering and power generation equipment/systems, including turbines, pumps, fans, material handling and conveying equipment, heat exchangers, piping, pressure vessels, HVAC systems, ducting, and expansion joints, fire protection systems.

Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for project management, including scope development, cost estimation, technical specification creation, procurement documentation, bidding evaluation, contract negotiation, and management.

The successful candidate will also provide on-site services, including site inspection, field survey, construction supervision, and commissioning support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Systems Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng) registration with APEGS or eligibility to register.
  • Previous mechanical design experience is mandatory.
