About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Principal Scientist to join our Chemical Sciences group. The successful candidate will have a strong background in modern medicinal chemistry and a proven track record of success in leading laboratory research and driving the conception, planning, and execution of scientific stages of research in drug discovery programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead laboratory research and drive the conception, planning, and execution of scientific stages of research in drug discovery programs
  • Design, execute, and interpret complex laboratory experiments with broad priorities set by management or clients
  • Conceive and generate significant new ideas around synthetic or medicinal chemistry
  • Provide creative and innovative approaches to resolve research problems
  • May be responsible for the leadership of a project, proposing plans, having a strategic view, maximizing team performance, and understanding scientific findings and translating them into non-scientific language
  • Conceive and write technical reports and manuscripts
  • Have a significant impact on department performance and ensure that laboratory safety and generally-accepted lab practices are implemented
Requirements
  • PhD in Organic/Synthetic/Medicinal Chemistry with 8 to 12 years of experience in a related field
  • Sc. in Organic/Synthetic/Medicinal Chemistry with 13 to 15 years of experience in a related field
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical field
  • Supervisory experience and good leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to build the Project Team into a dedicated and enthusiastic unit
  • Strong use of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and in French
