Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Cambrian Credit Union Full time

About the Role

Cambrian Credit Union is seeking a highly skilled Enterprise Compliance Manager to join our dynamic Risk Management Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing compliance management risk assessments to ensure that effective processes and procedures are in place to align with relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, execution, and oversight of Cambrian's Compliance Monitoring and Reporting process, working with internal subject-matter-experts and reviewing relevant legislation, regulations, and policies to identify and document compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance recommendations are appropriate for Cambrian's operations by highlighting the differences between internal operational procedures, practices, and desired outcomes against what is necessary to meet ongoing regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and maintain an Enterprise Compliance Program, informed by Cambrian's Business Priorities, Budget, and Annual Internal Audit Plan, that prioritizes Compliance Reviews that best align to Cambrian's strategic objectives and long-term value creation.
  • Complete formal and informal compliance reviews in partnership with internal stakeholders to advise on steps necessary to ensure that sound processes are implemented to comply with all identified requirements.
  • Create, manage, maintain, and enhance compliance policies, procedures, and processes to meet compliance requirements and identify and respond to any new legislation that would be relevant.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to identify operational friction and areas of potential non-compliance in the execution of internal business practices, making recommendations and facilitating changes to achieve compliance.
  • Maintain enterprise documentation standards for compliance-related controls, procedures, and processes, providing clear guidance to leaders in meeting documentation standards through ongoing reviews, providing feedback, and best practices, and discussing options to balance compliance with daily operations and enterprise priorities.
  • Manage key compliance program deliverables post-implementation of significant regulatory change, in accordance with the nature, scale, and complexity of the requirements in a manner that ensures a strong culture of compliance, consistent with the tone set from Executive.
  • As needed, support the review and investigation of suspected compliance breaches, providing a summary of findings and recommended actions to the Chief Risk Officer and/or other Senior Leaders.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of job-related experience, in compliance, audit, governance, or another field with strict adherence to complex regulations.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Internal Audit, or other related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education, professional designations, and experience to be considered.
  • Previous experience in the financial services industry, considered a significant asset.
  • Active participation in professional organizations encouraged.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent communication and comprehension skills, specifically in reading complex material and translating into straightforward and contextualized concepts.
  • Proficient in PC applications of Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Innovative thinker, open to new ideas, processes, and applications.
  • Ability to work well in a diverse environment with multiple and often changing priorities.
