Civil/Structural Engineer In Training Job Description

Tetra Tech, a leading consulting engineering company, is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer In Training to join our team in Thunder Bay. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for performing structural analysis, detailed engineering design, and coordination with other disciplines. Your work will involve producing sketches, compiling engineering work packages, and providing construction support.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and calculations for buildings, equipment supports, pile, and shallow foundations.
  • Detailed engineering design according to governing codes, industry standards, and experience.
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, etc.
  • Produce sketches to be incorporated in models/drawings by Designers/Drafters.
  • Compilation of engineering work package, contract documents, and other project-related documentation as required.
  • Provide construction support including site visit, review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, etc.
  • Adherence to all health and safety policies and guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills

  • B.Sc. in Civil Engineering Degree.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Membership.
  • Working knowledge of the NBCC code, CSA concrete and steel design code.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software such as SFrame, STAAD, SAP2000.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Navisworks applications.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • 2 to 3 years civil/structural design experience in EPC or Consulting industry is preferred.
