About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Truck Driver/Operator to join our team at Tomlinson Group of Companies. As a key member of our Industrial Waste Division, you will be responsible for operating vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all local, municipal, provincial, and federal laws.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy duty trucks in accordance with Tomlinson's Safe Operating Practices and MTO requirements.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle systems are functioning properly.
  • Conduct daily maintenance checks on equipment and report any issues to the Operations Team or Dispatch.
  • Ensure cargo is secured properly and follow safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods.
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
  • Administer bills of lading/manifests and maintain log books manually or electronically.
  • Notify the Operations Team of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Communicate customer requests to the Operations Team or Dispatch.
  • Perform duties as scheduled by the Operations Team or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
  • Follow route assignments and complete end-of-day documentation and the Driver Check In process.

Requirements:

  • A valid AZ or DZ driver's license with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • A clean driver's abstract and CVOR record.
  • Industrial cleaning or waste experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including after-hours calls and weekends when required.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with customers onsite.
  • A strong safety mindset and ability to perform safety inspections on equipment.
