The TEEMA Group is seeking a skilled Braille Specialist to support visually impaired students in achieving their full academic, social, and personal potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement instructional programs designed by certificated staff.
  • Instruct students in a variety of subjects, utilizing adaptive technology aids and equipment.
  • Compile, review, and record student assignments and progress.
  • Perform follow-through activities with visually impaired students, promoting independence and self-care skills.
  • Adapt classroom materials to meet the needs of visually impaired students, ensuring equal access to education.
  • Monitor student progress and behavior, maintaining effective communication with school and program staff.
  • Assist students with daily tasks, such as entering and leaving buildings, and boarding buses.
  • Support certificated staff with testing students, recording scores, and maintaining related files.

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of methods for working with visually impaired students.
  • Competency in Braille instruction.
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential matters.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Dependable with good attendance and punctuality.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience with visually impaired or multi-disabled children.
  • Relevant education, experience, and training.

Licensing and Certification:

  • Completion of 10 hours of continuing education in Braille competency or an accepted Braille competency test.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license.
