The TEEMA Group is seeking a skilled Braille Specialist to support visually impaired students in achieving their full academic, social, and personal potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement instructional programs designed by certificated staff.
- Instruct students in a variety of subjects, utilizing adaptive technology aids and equipment.
- Compile, review, and record student assignments and progress.
- Perform follow-through activities with visually impaired students, promoting independence and self-care skills.
- Adapt classroom materials to meet the needs of visually impaired students, ensuring equal access to education.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, maintaining effective communication with school and program staff.
- Assist students with daily tasks, such as entering and leaving buildings, and boarding buses.
- Support certificated staff with testing students, recording scores, and maintaining related files.
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of methods for working with visually impaired students.
- Competency in Braille instruction.
- Ability to work independently and handle confidential matters.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Dependable with good attendance and punctuality.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience with visually impaired or multi-disabled children.
- Relevant education, experience, and training.
Licensing and Certification:
- Completion of 10 hours of continuing education in Braille competency or an accepted Braille competency test.
- Valid Washington State driver's license.
