Job Summary:

The Admitting Clerk - Patient Registration Specialist will be responsible for processing inpatient admissions, transfers, and discharges at The Royal Mental Health Centre. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain accurate data for statistical reporting purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process patient admissions, transfers, and discharges in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Register new and re-register patients for outpatient services, ensuring all necessary information is collected and updated.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including demographic and insurance information.
  • Track bed usage and waiting lists to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Verify and validate patient insurance and additional coverage, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
  • Prepare and complete admission and discharge forms for clinical records.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Contribute to a work environment that is conducive to The Royal's Anti-Racism, Harassment & Discrimination Free Workplace policy.
  • Perform other clerical duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary training/experience in office administration is preferred.
  • Proficiency in the latest version of Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office.
  • Typing skills of 45 net words per minute minimum.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with ADT/OPR Patient Registration Systems.
  • Bilingual (French/English) is mandatory, with English level A- and French level A- required in oral comprehension, expression, reading, and writing.

Salary Range: $26.04 to $28.54 per hour
