We're seeking an experienced Controller to join our Ontario Management Team at Kaizen Lab Inc. In this critical role, you'll provide financial leadership and expertise to support our operational and financial success.

Job Description

The Controller position requires a seasoned professional with a strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance. You'll be responsible for leading our Accounting and Finance team in providing financial services that support our operational and financial success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
    • Analyze financial data to provide actionable insights to senior management regarding financial performance, cash flow, profitability, and cost control.
    • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the company's financial data, including reconciliations and general ledger entries.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and internal policies.
    • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent financial discrepancies.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and develop a team of accountants and financial analysts.
  • Systems and Processes:
    • Implement and maintain accounting systems and software that align with the company's growth and operational needs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, preferably in multi-site or multi-location environments.
  • Experience in the waste management, environmental services, or similar industries is preferred.
  • Experience managing and overseeing payroll and benefits.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, and compliance.
  • Proficient in accounting software and financial systems (e.g., Power BI, FYI, Navusoft etc.).
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to provide actionable financial insights.
