The GIS/Broadband Technology Coordinator is a key role within Blue Sky Economic Growth Corporation, responsible for maintaining and updating the BAIMAP (Broadband and Associated Infrastructure Mapping Analysis Project) and the OIAM (Ontario Internet Access Map). This position requires a strong background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing software, as well as experience in gathering and analyzing metrics.
Key Responsibilities:- GIS and Mapping: Utilize ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, and Google Earth Engine to create a GIS Broadband Data Warehouse/GeoHub, and develop dashboards and web maps through ESRI's ArcGIS Online ecosystem.
- Broadband Development and Analysis: Work with municipalities, First Nations, Internet Service Providers, and government organizations to map and provide analysis for new Broadband development and upgrades.
- Project Management: Manage the rollout and expansion of broadband projects, and develop a joint broadband strategy.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with various Internet Service Providers, customer service operations, and government service agencies to facilitate collaboration and coordination.
- Research and Analysis: Research, identify, and enable key broadband policies and best practices, and analyze metrics to inform decision-making.
- Communication: Clearly communicate with internal stakeholders to organize work, grow, and maintain enthusiasm for technology projects.
- Advanced GIS and Remote Sensing Skills: Expertise in ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, and Google Earth Engine, as well as experience in gathering and analyzing metrics.
- Project Management Experience: Proven experience in managing projects, developing strategies, and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and experience working with large volumes of tabular or array-based data in an automated fashion.
- Education and Certifications: A degree in a related field, such as GIS, Computer Science, or a related field, and relevant certifications.
This role will be working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality results and meeting project deadlines.
