Job Title: Code Enforcement Officer

Destinationone Consulting is seeking a skilled Code Enforcement Officer to join our team. As a Code Enforcement Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining community standards and ensuring compliance with municipal codes and ordinances.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct property inspections to ensure compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations, and property maintenance standards.
  • Investigate complaints and reports of code violations, documenting findings and taking appropriate enforcement actions.
  • Issue citations and notices of violation to property owners and tenants, outlining required corrective measures and deadlines.
  • Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure compliance with correction orders and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to inspections, violations, and enforcement actions.
  • Educate the public and property owners about code requirements, enforcement procedures, and the appeals process.
  • Collaborate with other municipal departments, agencies, and community organizations to address and resolve code enforcement issues.
  • Stay updated on changes to codes, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure accurate and effective enforcement.
Requirements:
  • Relevant certification or diploma in Code Enforcement, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in code enforcement, property management, or a similar role with a strong understanding of local codes and regulations.
  • Excellent observational and analytical skills for identifying and documenting code violations.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with property owners, tenants, and municipal officials.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and maintain accurate records in a detailed and organized manner.
  • Familiarity with legal procedures and enforcement actions related to code violations.
