The Information Technology Director will lead the strategic planning process for developing and implementing a comprehensive technology strategic plan aligned with Taft College's mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement a technology strategic plan that aligns with the college's mission and goals.
- Collaborate with college leadership to integrate technology into institutional planning and decision-making processes.
- Identify innovative solutions to enhance teaching, learning, and administrative operations.
- Oversee daily operations of the IT operations, ensuring efficient and effective support for students, faculty, and staff.
- Implement best practices for IT service delivery and management.
- Manage the college's network infrastructure, data centers, and cloud services.
- Oversee cybersecurity, network, and support operations and team members.
- Maintain, improve, and report on the District technology resources inventory.
- Assist departments in addressing functional needs, purchasing equipment, networking/integration, providing appropriate hardware and software upgrades, managing installation, storage, and data integrity.
- Direct staff in assisting faculty, support staff, and administration in evaluating emerging technologies, maintaining technology literacy and creative application of technology resources.
- Develop and maintain information security guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including FERPA, HIPAA, and California privacy laws.
- Lead cybersecurity initiatives and oversee the implementation of security measures.
- Arrange for needed cybersecurity training across campus.
- Lead IT initiatives, including network resiliency assessment.
- Manage vendor relationships and contracts for technology services and products.
- Oversee the implementation of technologies to support distance education and hybrid learning models.
- Establish standards for technology hardware, software, and communications protocols.
- Develop and manage the annual IT budget.
- Recruit, train, and mentor IT staff to build a high-performing team.
- Provide professional development opportunities for IT staff.
- Develop strong partnerships with academic and administrative departments.
- Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Represent IT interests in college-wide decision-making and policy development.
- Lead the development, implementation, and regular testing of the college's IT incident response plan.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure a swift and effective response to IT-related incidents.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Provide leadership during IT-related emergencies or security breaches.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive IT leadership experience, including server and network administration, with at least 3 years in a management role, preferably in higher education.
- Strong knowledge of current and emerging technologies, including cloud computing, data analytics, and cybersecurity.
- Proven track record of successful technology implementations and integrations.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, project management, and change management.
- Understanding of the California Community College system and its unique challenges and opportunities.
- Experience with grant writing and management.
- Knowledge of energy-efficient and sustainable IT practices.
